You might already know how to make a slip knot; if you don't, this tutorial will help. (tail) is on top of the long yarn. Next, flip the whole thing down, onto the longer yarn. Grap the middle yarn between your thumb & forefinger. Pull the middle yarn out gently. Hang on to tail and pull the loop tight .
Step Two
How to Crochet a Chain Stitch Beginning crocheters usually start out by learning the chain stitch first. The chain stitch is one of the most important basic crochet stitches you'll need to know; chain stitches form the foundation of most crochet projects.Begin the chaining by picking up the loop in your left hand. Slide the hook into the loop and tighten the loop around the hook (not too tight, there should be some give).
Step Three
How to Single Crochet After you've learned the chain stitch, you'll want to learn the other basic crochet stitches. Single crochet stitch is one of these; it is an essential stitch to know. We've posted several resources which will help you get comfortable with the single crochet stitch: In the 2nd chain from the hook (I have the 2nd stitch sort of pinched between my thumb and forefinger), insert the head of the crochet hook. Now catch the yarn in your left hand with the hook and draw or pull it through both loops of the stitch . This will leave you with 2 loops on your hook. Catch the yarn in your left hand with the hook again and draw or pull it through both loops on the the hook. Repeat these steps until you get to the end of the chained row. Then, chain one stitch and turn your crocheted row over.Remember to chain one stitch at the end of each of your rows and turn your crocheting over to start the next row. Continue repeating steps 4 and 5 until you are doing it smoothly and evenly. Remember, it doesn't matter what you're crocheting, it only matters that you're doing it!! :)
